Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. Her first roles on Broadway include the productions Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford spent her career working alongside renowned actors and directors across the stage, film and TV and she is continuing her award-winning work with several upcoming projects. Ashford is scheduled to be starring opposite Kumail Nanjiani in the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford's current project includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust which he is starring in with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will stream through Disney's DTC platforms, as well as Hulu Original. Ashford will be returning in 2023 and will star alongside Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same duo who created Hamilton directed the show. Ashford played Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's American Crime Story Impeachment, based off the scandal which was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the national security crisis. Her two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive was her first major role. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway won both Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role in the role of Essie. Other Broadway credits include Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Ashford was born and raised in Denver and is now dividing the time in Los Angeles, and New York.
