Nadia and Carol

Nadia Comaneci is a Romanian gymnast (born on the 12th of November, 1961, in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej [now OnestiGheorghe Gheorghiu Dej [now Onesti] Romania). She was first to achieve a perfect 10 at an Olympic ceremony. Bela Karalyi stumbled upon Comaneci at the age of six. She later became the gymnastics coach of Romania. Her first competition was at the national junior championships 1969 and finished 13th. She did well in the 1970 competition. In 1972, as part of the communist nations' meet for junior athletes prior to the Olympics, she was awarded three gold medals. After that, in 1973 and 1974 she was named the champion of all juniors. She won four gold and one silver awards in her senior debut international competition which took place in the year 1975. It was the first time she had competed as a senior. In 1976, she won the American Cup at the New York City Olympics and was the first female in the history of sport to take off the parallel bars using the double backward salto. When she was in her teens, she began performing in traveling shows like Ice Capades as a skater along with her younger sibling Nina Wayne. Carol Marie Wayne is a United States citizen, born on the 6th of September, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois. Carol started her entertainment career in her teens. In her early years, Carol began as a figure skater in traveling shows Ice Capades with her sister Nina Wayne. The shows featured skating on ice and included theatrical performances.
